Tour Itinerary
Day One We fly into Phoenix this morning and tour this desert city. Here Frank Lloyd Wright established his winter school and home: Taliesin West
Day Two We head out of Phoenix with Sedona on our mind. We will visit this mysterious city and the incredible canyons that surround it. This is what travel is all about.
Day Three One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World—The Grand Canyon is just that—GRAND. We will stay in the park…on the rim, to give you as much time as you want to savor the sheer magnitude of this geologic anomaly. Keep an eye out for wildlife and bird life (this is California Condor territory).
Day Four As we travel further into Arizona we visit Monument Valley and it will look oddly familiar. That is because they are so beautiful and striking that many motion pictures, TV shows and commercials have been filmed here. People all over the world think the whole west is wild, but we now know better.
Day Five Yet another unbelievable national park awaits us—Canyonlands. Like the name, this is a land of canyons, plateaus, weird rock formations and unusual human history. We will explore both sections of this vast park learning about its dramatic geology, strange animals and unearthly plants.
Day Six One of our most beautiful and unique National Parks is on our path today—Arches National Park. Large, small, double, delicate…those are the words used to describe the many natural arches in this park. The producers of Thelma and Louise chose this spot as the finale because it was so striking.
Day Seven Today we visit one of the great natural wonders of the west—Dinosaur National Monument. Here, full skeletons of dinosaurs are in a wall of rock that is now protected by our park system. You will be amazed by the creatures you will see.
Day Eight It’s off to Rocky Mountain National Park. Today we will follow one of the highest roads in the world to the Alpine Zone. Here, mountain goats mix with marmots making this day a photographer’s dream. Awe-inspiring just isn’t enough of a description to tell you what’s in store.
Day Nine We have a second day in the park to explore its renowned majestic snow-clad mountains, abundant wildlife and incredible vistas. We will be on the lookout for mule deer, elk, moose and black bear.
Day Ten We begin our way back with a visit into the mile high city of Denver. This lovely city is full of great architecture like the ultra-modern art museum, the state capital, the LoDo Historic District—all of which we will visit. We will also learn about the great men hat called this city “Home” before flying back to our own home.
