Tour Itinerary

Day One Depart Chicago for the beautiful city of Winnipeg. This capital city of Manitoba has a little something for everyone. The highlight of the city must be the eclectic Canadian Museum for Human Rights designed by American Antoine Predock. It is the reason many flock to this cosmopolitan city. It is the only museum dedicated to peace and is the sole national museum located outside of Canada’s capital. We also explore the brand-new Sphere Botanical Gardens—an incredible modernization of the indoor conservancy.  We overnight and have our welcome dinner in Winnipeg.

Day Two Early this morning we will fly to Churchill. Upon arrival, we will tour the town. Highlights of the tour include: Cape Merry National Historic Site, the Polar Bear Jail and the Eskimo Museum (one of the best in the world) along with many more sites and some great stories about polar bears and the history of Churchill.  This afternoon, we check into our hotel.

Day Three Today is our first day of Polar Bear viewing. This morning, we transfer to our PRIVATE Tundra Buggy and head out in search of Polar Bears. We have lunch aboard our heated and restroom-equipped Tundra Buggy. Keep an eye open for Polar Bears playing, displaying dominance behavior, looking for food under the snow or just chilling out. We head back to Churchill late this afternoon.

Day Four A second full day for polar bear viewing. Now that you are experts at spotting polar bears, keep an eye out for ptarmigan and fox in addition to the bears. We return to Churchill late this afternoon.

Day Five We have a special activity planned this afternoon—a dog sled ride! We visit the Northern Studies Center where we learn about dog sledding in their educational presentation. Then we go out and meet the dogs and hop aboard a dog sled for a delightful ride through the forest.  After a warm drink of coffee or cocoa, we head back to town.  This afternoon we visit Parks Canada in Churchill to learn about the wildlife and culture of the area. There is free time to explore the town, do some shopping before we take an early evening flight back to Winnipeg.

Day Six More city tour time visiting such iconic sites as the historic Forks area, St. Boniface Cathedral and its famous cemetery and the remains of the original fort that served as the genesis for the modern metropolis of Winnipeg. We fly home in the late afternoon with memories of a grand city, a town located in the wilds of Manitoba and the great white bears of the north.
