Tour Itinerary

Day One  Go West Young Man and/or Woman!  Go West!  There is no greater western wilderness than Alaska.  It is a land of riches—gold, oil and beauty.  It is a land full of the great wildlife of America—grizzly, wolf, caribou, Dall sheep, mountain goats, Black bear, Sitka deer, moose, lynx and fox—the Big 10 of Alaska.  We are going for that and more as we head first to Fairbanks.

Day Two  We explore Fairbanks today in a number of ways.  We take a paddle-wheeler down the Chena River stopping to see native Alaskans showing off their crafts.  We tour the great University of Alaska Museum, showcasing the wildlife, people, geography and history of this enormous state.  We will get a glimpse of the big money makers:  The Alaska Pipeline rise above the ground near Fairbanks giving us a chance to see all the high-tech in it.  This evening we will enjoy a fresh Salmon and Steak dinner in Alaskaland where a giant gold slush is working.

Day Three  We head to Denali and the beauty of the Alaska Range will awe you.  This is one of the most beautiful parks in the world.  We will investigate the new Visitor’s Center and for those that want to take a short hike, Bill will lead you to an amazing overlook.

Day Four  A full day game drive in the park.  We will be on the lookout for grizzly, moose, caribou, Dall sheep, red fox, arctic ground squirrels, wolves and lynx.  This is a wildlife paradise that is also home to many species of far north birds like ptarmigan and gyro-falcons.  The crème de la crème is seeing the majestic peak of Mount Denali on our drive.

Day Five  We move on to the largest city in Alaska today—Anchorage. On the way, Bill has several surprises for you.  This is a land of unbelievable beauty including several more shots at seeing the top of Mt Denali.  The route we take has never failed to yield an angle where the mountain is seen. We do an overview tour of Anchorage on arrival.

Day Six  We head south to the coast.  Seward is the jumping off point to one of the most stunning aquatic national parks in America—Kenai Fjords National Park.  We will venture into the terrestrial part to see a glacier up close and personal.  Exit Glacier is one of many ice sheets coming off the immense Harding Icefield.

Day Seven  We take a cruiser into the park today.  Massive glaciers spill into the sea, waterfalls plummet from the mountain tops and deep green forests draw us in.  We are looking for wildlife on this cruise including sea otters, whales, sea lions, seals, black bear, mountain goats, Sitka deer and many aquatic birds including murres and puffins.  This will be a day to remember.

Day Eight  Its back to Anchorage, but on the way we will stop at Beluga Point to spot those white whales and watch the cliffs for Dall sheep and even grizzly bears. In Anchorage we will tour Earthquake Park ( a remanent of the great quake of 1964), view salmon swimming to their spawning sites and Cook Overlook for a panorama of the surrounding beauty.

Day Nine  We fly home today filled with images of native people, gold, beautiful scenery, massive glaciers, highest of all North American mountains and the abundance of wildlife.  This is the ultimate Alaska adventure.
