Tour Itinerary

Day One We depart this morning for Bogota, Colombia– the wildlife and cultural capital of South America.

Day Two We start our visit to Bogota with an overview city tour. This colonial capital is one of the most beautiful in all of South America. The architecture will dazzle you mixing the old and new world styles.

Day Three We tour more of Bogota, capital of Colombia and tour this regal capital city including the colonial center of the Old City, the San Francisco and Iglesia de La Tercera Churches and the world-renown Gold Museum.

Day Four We head to Neiva—the jumping off point for the UNESCO designated San Agustin Archaeological Park. This park has several sites featuring a large
collection of religious monuments and sculptures. The figures often depict animals and gods demonstrating the rich Andean culture that existed 1000 years ago.

Day Five Another day to explore the many aspects of the world-significant man-made treasure. The region and town is still inhabited, making this a unique window into the past and present.

Day Six We travel to Cartagena today to visit another UNESCO World Heritage Site. This city was founded in the 1500’s by the Spanish who took to building ever-
more fortified walls. Those fortresses and the many colonial monuments make this Caribbean coast city a must see.

Day Seven We head to Santa Marta today. It is the oldest city in Colombia. Its whitewashed cathedral is the oldest on the continent and its Spanish downtown
transports you to another time. This is a beautiful city surrounded by the rainforest.

Day Eight Today we visit El Dorado Reserve where the highest number of bird species can be found anywhere in the world. More importantly, it is the second most
important place for the preservation of the threatened bird and amphibians in the world. You will see the rare and gorgeous quetzal, parrots, parakeets, tanagers and 28 species of hummingbirds. Science Magazine called it the most irreplaceable place on earth.

Day Nine More early morning birding to grab some more of the rarities like tanagers, finches and other multi-colored winged marvels. We will fly this afternoon to La Paz and begin our Bolivian adventure.

Day Ten La Paz is a wonderous city with some of the most astonishing sites in the world. We will visit the otherworldly Valley of the Moon with its strange and
eerie geologic formations. You will think you are on another planet. We will also visit the Presidential Palace and cathedral reminiscent of Old-World Spain. Our
final tour will be unique to this city–the Witches’ Market. Here you will find Voodoo dolls, potions, rare herbs and other “makings” for your own white (or black) magic.

Day Eleven We travel to Uyuni Salt Flats today stopping along the way to see mysterious archeological sites, unusual architecture and learn how the rural part of the
country lives. This will be a day you will never forget.

Day Twelve We tour the Uyuni Salt Flats today—one of the 7 natural wonders of South America. This is the world’s largest salt flat and the horizon disappears as
the flats become a giant reflection. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience–worth the cost of the whole trip.

Day Thirteen We head home today with natural wonders like the salt flats, wildlife galore, amazing architecture, crazy dinosaur tracks and two cultures that are as     inviting as they are beautiful. We will have time for last surprise in Bolivia.

Day Fourteen We arrive home today with so many pictures that it will take you weeks to go through them.
