Tour Itinerary

Day One We return to Texas for a special Christmas with a German flair.  We begin with a city tour of this state headquarters including the Christmas decorated capital, University of Texas Campus and the LBJ Presidential Library.  Presidential Libraries are one of the best snapshots of an era—this one being the wild 60’s.  Tonight we drive through our first impressive lights display in Zilker Park called the Austin Trail of Lights where millions of lights get us into the spirit of Christmas.

Day Two  We start the day with a visit to the Governor’s mansion all decked out for the holidays. See how Texans celebrate.  We then head a short distance out of town to the Bee Cave Sculpture Park.  This is a collection of fine art sculptures and some just plain silly ones.  Art for us normal folk.  This afternoon we have a little more Johnson history this time Lady Bird.  We will visit the Wildflower Center known for its exquisite wildflower gardens and displays.  This was one of her special projects while first lady.  As the sun sets on the gardens, they light up with a display of holiday lights to put a smile on the biggest Scrooge.

Day Three We complete our LBJ fix by a visit to the National Historic Park that includes his home, ranch, grave and exhibits.  The state and national government have shared the sites and places important to the 36 President of the US.  The tour will include his Texas White House, boyhood home, gravesite and ranch. The ranch is a haven for wildlife so have cameras ready for deer, antelope and many species of birds.  Tonight we stop at the Miracle on 5th St. a special pop up bar decorated from one end to another before settling in for a special holiday show Austin is famous for.

Day Four  We head next to Fredericksburg, a very German city in the heart of Texas.  The city is outfitted with German decorations from the tall Christmas Pyramid to a huge Christmas tree.  We will visit the National Museum of Pacific War which honors hometown Admiral Nimitz.  We will venture nearby to Longneck Manor where you will have the chance to feed giraffes and rhinos and learn about the conservation efforts to save these rare animals.  We will even take you to Luckenbach, TX famous for “Waylon, Willie and the Boys”.  We have a light show at the famous Circuit of America race track to attend before our farewell dinner.  This light show—known as Peppermint Avenue is a mile long drive through magnificent light displays.

Day Five  Bill has one more surprise for you before we head home singing Christmas Carols and spreading good cheer to anyone we meet.  No Ba-Humbug here.
