Tour Itinerary

Day One: We fly halfway across the pond to the closest and most beautiful outpost of Europe—Iceland.  We will literally circumnavigate the whole island taking in this scenic wonder.

Day Two: We touch down in the land of fire and ice and begin by visiting the famed Blue Lagoon.  After our dip in the waters that restore youth, we will visit the Golden Circle.  The Golden Circle includes the UNESCO listed Thingvellir National Park—a surreal land of ancient lava flows.  It also includes the magnificent Gullfoss waterfalls and one of the most active geyser fields in the world.

Day Three: We venture out of the capital city today following the south coast towards the outstanding Skaftafell and Vatnajokull National Park.  We will walk on a glacier with the guidance of a skilled glacier guide.  Then, we drive to the glacier lagoon where a myriad of floating icebergs and an occasional seal can be seen.  The nearby black crystal beach is filled with grounded icebergs.

Day Four: We begin the day with a scenic drive along the coastline of the eastern fjords to Egilsstadir.  A short walk to the 419-foot high Hengifoss waterfall will amaze you.

Day Five: We reach the top of the island today after a scenic stop at the Dettifoss waterfalls.  The Lake Myvatn area is known for its exotic waterfowl and geothermal anomalies.  Giant mud pools “boil” as heat and gases escape from the core of the Earth.  We will continue on to one of the most scenic towns anywhere—Akureyri—with another waterfall stop along the way—the Godafoss.

Day Six: We explore Akureyri today including its iconic church.  We do a whale cruise in the near-Arctic waters looking for humpbacks and white-beaked dolphins. We continue to west Iceland.

Day Seven: We explore West Iceland today—voted one of the top destinations in the world by Lonely Planet. Stops at three huge waterfalls are a highlight especially the Hraunfossar Falls that flows from beneath a lava field.  We do a city tour of Reykjavik upon arrival.

Day Eight: We fly home today with memories of glaciers, volcanoes, massive waterfalls, and arctic wildlife.
