Day One & Two Depart the US on an overnight flight for Australia. Enroute you will cross the international date
line, causing you to lose a day.
Day Three We arrive in Cairns this morning. Cairns is a beautiful coastal city, located conveniently near the
Great Barrier Reef. The balance of the day is at leisure in Cairns.
Day Four Today we explore one of the 7 great wonders of the natural world—the Great Barrier Reef. We venture to the reef aboard an MV/cat catamaran. When we drop anchor, there are a variety of options—snorkeling,
exploring the sandy island, glass bottom boat viewing or just relaxing. We return to Cairns late this afternoon.
Day Five We fly to Sydney today and tour the city. Highlights of our tour include the original settlement in
Sydney—The Rock, Darling Harbor, the Olympic Sites, Parliament, Harbor Bridge and of course, the famous
Sydney Opera House.
Day Six This morning we will tour the iconic Sydney Opera House. This building has been called the architecture leader of 21st century. This afternoon we board a flight for Melbourne. Upon arrival we tour the city including: The Victoria Arts Center, the shopping district, Chinatown, the Government House and Captain Cook’s
Day Seven We have a great surprise for you this morning. This afternoon your guide will be leading a trip to Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary where you will be able to view native animals in a naturalistic setting. This evening, joinng your guide for a delightful and fascinating natural phenomena, the Fairy Penguin Parade. On Philip Island, each night at dusk, thousands of tiny Fairy Penguins float ashore and head for their burrows.
Day Eight We fly to Tasmania today for an out of the world wildlife adventure. We will spend the next two
nights at a private wildlife refuge where the rarest animals of Australia thrive principally because this is where
captive bred endangered animals are released back into the wild. This is an exclusive preserve where you will
see wildlife that Australian’s haven’t seen. Many of these rarities walk right up to your room.
Day Nine We will take day and evening tours to see kangaroos, wombats, the rare egg-laying mammal
echidna and the two fierce marsupial predators —the Quoll and the super rare Tasmanian Devil (watch out Bugs Bunny!) This is one of the premiere wildlife destinations in Australia.
Day Ten We head to Cradle Mountain National Park where we visit the other premiere park. The beautiful lakes and majestic mountains will blow you away. Our night drive will astound you will the volume of wildlife—padymelon (small kangaroos), wombats, echidnas, possums and quolls.
Day Eleven We head out today to catch our flight back to the mainland. We still have a surprise in store for you before we leave this incredible island.
Day Twelve We fly to Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand. We will tour the dock yards, volcanic craters and cross one of the iconic bridges of the world. We will also visit the fabled botanic gardens where rare giant ferns grow.
Day Thirteen We head down to Rotorua the homeland of the Maori people. This Polynesian group were the Original settlers on these islands. We will visit their cultural center, view their beautiful buildings and learn about their culture. This is also the land of geysers, hot pools and thermals—second in size only to Yellowstone. We have a treat for you this evening.
Day Fourteen We depart to the southern end of the North Island to the city of Wellington. Wellington is the capital of New Zealand. On the way, we will see Lake Taupo which sits on top of one of the 20 super volcanoes in the world. This is one of the most beautiful drives in the the southern hemisphere.
Day Fifteen We tour Wellington today. From its Parliament to the Government House to the early architecture, this is a great city. We will visit their national museum—their equivalent to the Smithsonian. The highlight of the day will be visiting Zealandia—an urban wildlife sanctuary were some of the rarest birds, reptiles and amphibians on either island. This is a bird lover’s paradise because virtually every siting will be an addition to your life list.
Day Sixteen We head home today with memories of the rare and unique wildlife of Australia and New Zealand. Incredible beauty, intriguing history and the culture of these two island nations will leave you breathless.
